Real questions, Real answers…from a 2 year-old

I saw this idea on Parenting Illustrated with Crappy Pictures (funny blog; do read), and I decided I just had to try it out on Charlotte.

Ask your kids questions about yourself (or life or whatever), and write them down.

Here are her answers:

How old is Mama?  “Two!”

What does mama do with her friends?    “A bag of neigh neighs.” (This is because I started listing my friends, and when she heard Carla’s name, she remembered that Carla had just given her a bag of little horses she bought from a garage sale.) [Thanks so much, Carla! Charlotte LOVES them!]

What do you want to be when you grow up?   “Um, a lion.”

What is the funniest word?    “Monkeys.”

What makes you happy?   “…..Um, happy!”

What are you afraid of?    “A ghost.” (first she said “a gullison” ???)

What does mama dream about at night?   “Arthur.”  (That would be the aardvark from the popular Marc Brown children’s book series.  Actually, I dream about Mr. Ratburn, but close enough.)

What does Charlotte dream about?   “Dream about rabbits.”

Well, that probably wasn’t very entertaining for anyone but me.

Oh, and I’ve failed to mention time and again that Charlotte is out of diapers now! We really started with her  after  her babysitter left after the semester ended the second week of May. She just seemed ready, and she was because she took to it immediately. Since then, she was mostly out of diapers and only wore them at night and during naps (and if we were going out and didn’t know when we’d be back). And since I’ve been out of school on June 3rd, she’s been in underpants full time! We are so proud of her! And her little bum looks so cute now that it isn’t hidden behind all that diaper bulge.

I’ve been having lots of moments lately where I’m suddenly dumbstruck at how grown up she is already. I swear I was just pregnant like yesterday, and the thought of having a toddler and buying Hello Kitty underpants was worlds away. Well, Hello World. We’re here. And soon, I’m sure, we’ll be gone. Onto school supplies and bike rides and deodorant and make-up and sporting events and prom dresses and college graduations.

Excuse me while I go drown myself in a bottle of…..water? 🙂

  1. I decided to play along and I asked my four year old some of your questions. He thinks I’m four years old as well. The funniest word(s) — pizza under the ocean. (go figure??) He got distracted by Phineas and Ferb when I asked him what makes him happy but that might have also been the answer to his question. And, when I asked him what he thinks I do when I go out with my friends: WORK. (Wow, that’s boring.) Bonus, he thinks I dream about him. And, he dreams about riding on rollercoasters. Too cute. 🙂

  2. This is too adorable!

  3. You’re welcome Charlotte! They were from Madeline too.

Cute idea. Maybe next year we can do this too.

Congrats on the underpants, Char. Teach Madeline some tricks.

    And water eh? Refreshing. 😉

  4. Don’t you dream about Mr. Zaffino? Tzzzzzz Charlotte is such a doll, of course! xoxo

  5. That little love is so special! And, so are you! 🙂

  6. I thought you would dream about pencils……with erasers!

  7. Reading this 2.5 years later and I know now that “gullison” meant skeleton! 🙂
